Asylum had the daunting task of cutting a car in half with a giant circular saw blade, on camera!

With a tight deadline of 4 weeks, we fabricated a 30 metre steel track with traveling bogey and a real 4.5m diameter aluminium blade with steel teeth (that’s right, it did actually cut through!). Within that time, we also rigged a Shell Skoda Rally car with a completely fabricated interior and original exterior with livery and mud.

Extra hydraulic rigs were produced to enable the car to split on completion of the cut and a pre-cut engine was shot as a plate for the end sequence. Shot at Shepperton, the ad was filmed over 3 days.
