L’Artisan’s Bird Cages

Asylum Supervisor

Mark Curtis

Asylum fabricated these beautiful brass cages for L’Artisan’s shop windows.

CAD models of different sized cages were drawn up after receiving reference images from the client. A negative tool was then machined out in MDF using CNC, onto which wires were bent into shape and soldered together at the top.

Other components such as the caps and bands were machined in brass to create the delicate detailing. The client wanted a uniform bronze colour, so the final assembled cages were sandblasted and spray painted.
