Madame Tussauds Thor

Client

Madame Tussauds

Due to the model making nature of this project, Madame Tussauds approached Asylum to fabricate Thor’s costume and hammer, Mjölnir.

Inorder to replicate the costume as accurately as possible, we were given photographs of the original and spent time measuring and scaling all dimensions that could be ascertained. A fibreglass mannequin was provided to fit the fabric parts.

The solid parts of the chest plate and entire belt were modelled in CG and either CNC’d out of chemi-wood or 3D printed. These were moulded and then editioned in a flexible polyurethane.

The hammer had some fine detail, which too had parts modelled digitally, before being printed out. The main body was then fabricated out of aluminium and chemi-wood.
