i Newspaper Puppet

We fabricated the letter “i” for iNewspaper’s idents on Dave. The puppet was modelled from foam and rigged to allow anthropomorphic movements via puppeteering.

A base was first machined out of composite wood by means of CNC. Foam pieces were then cut to size with mitred edges for each facet and dyed individually to a vibrant red colour. This was finally glued together to form the highly manoeuvrable exterior before being stuffed with polyester to provide stability.

Tubular rigs were fitted internally to attach the rods needed for puppeteering.
