Two stunt doubles of ‘Chip’ the tortoise were produced for flip tricks and jumps in this Virgin Money advert.
We had the tortoise come visit Asylum so we could take measurements and reference photos. We then sculpted the ‘Chip’ and made a cast in silicon for the head/legs and fibreglass for the shell. A wire armature was included in the silicon so that the appendages and neck were posable.
Even though the camera shots were wide, the client required accurate patterning on the shell. Careful like for like airbrushing was done so that the doubles were seamlessly blended with the real thing.
