Acrylicize’s commission involved fabricating 3 separate original designs for different parts of MEC’s Southbank offices in London.

MEC Logo – A series of 3D shapes were attached to hanging chains. These were slowly lifted and lowered by motors through a programmed cycle, revealing the company logo at certain points. The installation was fitted with web enabled monitoring to allow Asylum engineers to diagnose and repair issues remotely.

Skate Wheel Graphic Equaliser – LED lights were wired up around the bearings of skateboard wheels, arranged on a board. An imbedded Linux computer running custom firmware, turned the lights into a graphic equaliser, visually displaying the sound of the surrounding office environment.

Pulse – Polished copper tubes cut at various heights to form a rippling surface, were fitted into a circular aluminium frame. DMX controlled LED strips created an animated wave pattern, which cascaded colour in the reflective surface of the tubes.
