Louis Vuitton – Marc Jacobs Mannequin Heads

Producer

Chameleon Visual

This project involved a diverse range of model making techniques and disciplines to fabricate the multitude of mannequin heads needed for this exhibition.

The animal heads were the most labour intensive pieces, requiring sculpting, moulding, casting and final artworking. Many needed flocking and hair punching.

Some of the others were possible to sculpt digitally and then 3d print, such as the balloon and gimp masks, but some unusual materials were needed for the giant tulle, chrome plated and concrete block heads.

At the end of the exhibition you see a 16 inch tall miniature of Marc that was 3d printed from scan data. After airbrushing, he was lovingly decorated with rub down transfers of all his tattoos, painstakingly drawn up on computer using reference photos.
