Asylum Supervisor

Mark Ward

As part of the ‘Engineer Modern Marketing’ activation at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, this interactive wall tells the story of IBM iX’s approach to transforming brands.

Asylum engineered and fabricated this installation. Standing over 2 meter tall, it housed built-in electronics connected to the conductive ink designs on the exterior and upon touching, generates a variety of output in the form of light-up features, video display and other interesting features.

The outer casing was machined out of composite wood panels, with printed vinyl designs and perspex cut-out accents. Key elements were also fitted with hidden rim LED strips, which produced a futuristic glow. A series of draws had touch screen tablets inset into bespoke frames, for further interaction and informing users. There was also a slot that dispensed boxes of pastries accordingly when the user performs the correct input.
